Dimensions and Weights: When fully packed the reinforced canvas roll-on/carry-on case (below) is approximately 18 x 14 x 10 inches in size (46 x 36 x 25 cm). Total weight, including notebook computer, manuals, case, cables, etc., is about 30 pounds (13.6 kg). A typical notebook computer weighs 4 - 7 pounds (1.8 - 3.2 kg) and is 12 x 10 x 2 inches in size (30 x 25 x 5 cm). Dimensions and weights of other components are given below. With a 6.5-pound (2.9 kg) notebook computer, the instrument weighs 11.5 pounds (5.2 kg) when configured for impact-echo testing, and 14.5 pounds (6.6 kg) when configured for wave speed measurements. The roll-on/carry-on case meets requirements for airline carry-on luggage. It contains a padded internal compartment for storage and protection of a notebook computer.

Power Requirements: Power is supplied from internal, rechargeable batteries in the notebook computer and data acquisition system, or from an external source. A fully charged notebook battery typically provides 2-3 hours of operation, and spare batteries are available. The battery in the data acquisition system provides 5-6 hours of operating time when fully charged. A power-saving system automatically places the data acquisition system into a "sleep" mode if no test signals are received for 2 minutes. In this mode power consumption is reduced by more than 90%. Adapters are provided for powering the system and/or recharging the batteries from a 12v DC source (car or truck battery) or a 11/0/220v AC source.
Hand-Held Transducer Unit: Key components include piezoelectric crystal and on-board preamplifier. The main body is stainless steel.

Power Requirements: 9v battery (inside stainless steel
cylinder).
Controls: Transducer armed when handle is depressed; indicator light for
low battery.
Cable Connections: BNC connector at top flange of cylinder for cable to
data acquisition system.
Dimensions & Weight: Overall length is 11.3" (29 cm); main
cylinder is 2" in diameter and 6.8" long (5 x 17 cm); handle is 1.5" in
diameter and 4.5" long (3.8 x 11.4 cm). Weight is 2.2 pounds (1 kg).
Analog/Digital Data Acquisition System: Fourteen-bit analog/digital converter digitizes analog voltage signal from transducer at rates up to two megasample/sec on each of two channels, and transfers results to computer memory.

Power Requirements: Internal, rechargeable battery (5v DC) provides 5 - 6
hours of operating time on a full charge. A power-saving system automatically
places the data acquisition into a "sleep" mode if no test signals are received
for 2 minutes. In this mode power consumption is reduced by more than 90%. System can be powered and/or recharged by external 9-12v DC or 110/220v
AC source. Charging time about 6 hours.
Software: Proprietary on-board software functions only with Impact-E
software for impact-echo.
Controls: On/off switch, indicator lights.
Cable Connections: Two BNC cable connectors for transducer units; one
9-pin serial port connector, coaxial connector for power supply.
Dimensions & Weight: 10.2 x 6.2 x 1.6 inches (26 x 16 x 4 cm) and 2.2
pounds (1.0 kg).
Warranty: All
components of the instrument, with the exception of the computer, are covered by a
one-year parts and labor warranty from Impact-Echo Instruments, LLC. Warranties for
computers are provided by the computer manufacturers. For instruments to be used outside
the United States it is advisable to purchase the computer in the country where it will be
used, or to specify a manufacturer that has customer service and repair facilities in that
country and will honor a warranty for an instrument purchased from the U.S.
